General thunderstorms are forecast across the northwestern Iberian peninsula and the Bay of Biscay, the southern and western Alps, central parts of the Mediterranean, much of eastern Europe and northern Scandinavia.

SYNOPSIS

A blocking ridge is building over western and central Europe. On its northern flank a westsouthwesterly jet is located from the northern British Isles into Scandinavia. A shortwave trough is located over Portugal. Elsewhere, the flow is rather weak. An upper low is located over the western Ukraine and a weak upper low moving eastward into Greece.
